THE NEW KENNELS HAVE ARRIVED!

Plumbing and electricity still need to be installed.

They will not be used until after shelter is cleaned up.

SHELTER OUTBREAK IS NOT DISTEMPER

Lancaster County Animal Shelter SC
Update from shelter posted on Facebook 4/27/17

TEST RESULTS ARE IN: We DO NOT have distemper in the shelter. It is kennel cough, which is leading to pneumonia. Once it gets to the pneumonia stage, that is what is making these dogs very sick. We will be getting all dogs out of this shelter today, and sanatizing up until Thursday, we will be getting epoxy flooring put down throughout the shelter.
All new dogs being posted are offsite and have not been exposed to any possible sickness. We are doing all actions on getting the dogs in the shelter quarantined. *We are not accepting owner surrenders at this time* No dogs are getting worse in sickness, an no other dogs seem to be getting sick at this time. We are doing all necessary actions here at the shelter. We thank everyone who has been helping, donating, and sending help our way. We appreciate it all! We are trying our best to get this shelter back on track, an everyone healthy again! -Huge thank you from shelter staff & shelter volunteers!

POSSIBLE DISTEMPER OUTBREAK AT LANCASTER COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER

***** CODE RED *****

A very sad day at the shelter... it's currently closed, waiting for test results to confirm possible distemper outbreak.  Volunteers are needed immediately to quarantine dogs that are not showing symptoms... or they may have to be put down.  See posting on our Facebook page.

UPDATE ON KENNEL ADDITION

Lancaster County has poured the concrete for the pad of the new kennel addition on Thursday March 30th. The county will need to bring in the services (electrical, water and sewer) to the pad in the next couple of weeks. Tentative arrival of the completed kennel is scheduled for around April 20th. Once all is set in place and connected, a GRAND OPENING will be scheduled to celebrate the new kennels and honor the donors who made this possible.

OH, WHAT A LITTLE LOVE CAN DO!

BEFORE
AFTER!!!

Last week, LASS transported two dogs to Camdon SC for rescue by Fostering Foster Animal Rescue.  Jessica bathed and groomed Max and will care for him along with 30 other cats and dogs until ARF from NY takes them to their forever homes.  Oh what a little love can do!
